Seashells

365 Magical Moments: Day 6

I have this decorative seashell filled with other tiny, decorative seashells. It's just something I picked up years ago at the craft store, back when I lived in California.

One of the things I really miss about living in California is the beach. I miss sitting on a rocky outcropping along the 17-mile drive or just past Cannery Row in Monterey and watching the waves crash against the rocks.

This little seashell decoration reminds me of it.

"One cannot collect all the beautiful shells on the beach. One can collect only a few, and they are more beautiful if they are few."

  1. I have an abalone shell from Canada which is filled with rose buds and sits on my writer's altar on my desk. Prior to that it was a leaf shaped ceramic bowl I made filled with tiny rocks and shells from Tasmania.

It is amazing how small tokens can evoke such poignant memories.
